WOOL BALLERINA FLATS

Made of wool sourced from Portugal’s mountains that’s strong and pliable and featuring a look that’s both traditional and modern, these Ballerina flats don’t define the wearer, but instead let the wearer define herself.

The streamlined silhouette speaks to their Swiss design heritage and lends them a fashion-forward appeal. Sustainably sourced Portuguese wool combines with traditional craftsmanship to add a touch of timeless charm and natural grace.

As a whole, this style lets you be who are while reminding you to leap at the chance to be who you want to be.

Natural Wool

Wool production goes back thousands of years in the Serra da Estrella region of Portugal and continues to supply wool around the world today. Working in a manner that’s friendly to sheep and the planet creates a premium fiber instilled with all the natural and amazing characteristics of wool that make our shoes durable, flexible and water-repellent on the outside; cozy and itch-free on the inside. Plus, whether it’s hot or cold, wool’s natural wicking and breathable properties keep your feet at a comfortable temperature.

Minimalist Design

We’ve always believed less is more. Part of it is our Swiss heritage. Part of it is an ecological ethos. In creating our products, we let the raw materials dictate the form they take. Our process includes clean lines, bold yet natural colors, and stylish compositions to create products that are at once subtle and striking. With their low profile, streamlined silhouette and earthy colors, these shoes capture the essence of our creative philosophy and will do the same for your personal style.

Latex Sole

Natural latex is produced by rubber trees that capture carbon and reduce erosion. Final products like our soles can last many years, and are recyclable. When done in a socially and eco-conscious manner, rubber production can provide jobs and a business for rural communities. As a B Corp Certified company, we promote sustainable rubber production and hope these new soles put a bounce in your step and inspire you to be the change you want to see in the world.

Care FAQ

How do I wash and clean my Baabuk Ballerinas?
Baabuk sneakers, slip-ons, and ballerina flats are machine washable. We recommend using a wool detergent and the preset "wool" program, or washing at 30° C / 90° F on a gentle cycle. Insoles can be removed during washing, and air drying is recommended

What if the shoes gets wet?
The fibers of the wool are naturally covered with a special waxy coating. Therefore, wool is naturally water repellent and will be less exposed to stains as spills will less easily be absorbed by the fabric. However, they are not waterproof and will get wet in heavier rain or deep puddles.

If your Baabuk shoes have gotten wet, simply remove and dry at room temperature. Avoid putting them in a dryer. The wool will not get damaged by water and will not shrink, as the raw material has already been washed and felted.
